Connect Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant that supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to your team, then ask about your services in plain language: who is serving this Sunday, which songs you used most this year, or plan next month's events from your rotation.
Who can connect
Only team owners and admins can connect an AI assistant. The assistant acts as you: it sees and changes only what you can in OnStage, with your permissions. One connection covers one team; to use another team, connect again and pick it when you sign in.
What the assistant reads is sent to the company that provides it and handled under its own terms. Read more in our Privacy Policy.
Connector URL
Every assistant connects to this address:
https://api.on-stage.app/mcpClaude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop)
- Open Settings, then Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector, name it OnStage and paste the connector URL.
- Choose Connect, sign in to OnStage, pick your team and approve access.
On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner of your Claude organization may need to add the connector first.
Claude Code
- Run this command in your terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http onstage https://api.on-stage.app/mcp - In Claude Code, run
/mcp, choose onstage and sign in to OnStage.
ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT, open Settings, then Apps & Connectors, and turn on Developer mode under Advanced settings.
- Choose Create, name the connector OnStage, paste the connector URL and choose OAuth as the authentication.
- Sign in to OnStage, pick your team and approve access. In a chat, turn the connector on from the tools menu.
Developer mode depends on your ChatGPT plan.
Other MCP clients
Cursor, VS Code and other MCP clients connect the same way: add the connector URL as a remote (HTTP) MCP server. The client opens the OnStage sign-in in your browser, where you pick your team and approve access.
What the assistant can do
Each action needs the same permission it needs in OnStage.
- Read your team: members and roles, groups and positions, event templates, and who is away in the next 120 days.
- Find events in a date range, with their setlist and, if you ask, who serves where.
- Run reports: how often people served, upcoming events, how often songs were used, and availability.
- Search songs and read a song's details, lyrics, chords and files.
- Add up to 200 songs at once from ChordPro or lyrics, and edit a song's details or lyrics.
- Add up to 60 events at once, with the people serving in them.
- Change who serves where on an event, replace its setlist, change its name, date, time or location, and set its reminders.
- Publish draft events, or delete an event.
- Attach a PDF or audio file to a song, in assistants that can read files on your computer, such as Claude Code.
Previews and undo
The assistant shows you a preview of every upload and change first, and applies it only after you confirm. Uploaded events are saved as drafts, so nobody is notified, unless you ask to publish them. Changes to published events can notify your team, as they do in OnStage; the preview says who will be notified.
Ask the assistant to undo an upload or change within 7 days. Deleting an event can't be undone.
Disconnect
To disconnect, remove OnStage from your assistant's connectors. In Claude Code, run claude mcp remove onstage. If you stop being an owner or admin of the team, the connection stops working.
